How to Apply for New LESCO Electricity Connection
Visit your nearest LESCO subdivision office with your CNIC, property ownership documents, and a no-objection certificate (NOC). Submit Form-A, pay the connection fee (varies by load: Rs. 3,500–15,000+), and wait 15-30 days for meter installation.
Who Needs a New LESCO Connection?
You need a new LESCO electricity connection if you've built a new house or commercial building in LESCO's coverage area (Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Okara), purchased a property without an existing connection, or need a separate meter for a portion of an existing property. If you're buying a property with an existing meter, you need a connection transfer, not a new connection — that's a different process.
Required Documents for LESCO New Connection
Gather these before visiting the LESCO office:
- CNIC — original and photocopy of the applicant (property owner or authorized person)
- Property ownership proof — registry, allotment letter, or fard (land record). For rented properties, the owner's NOC plus the lease agreement
- Building completion certificate — for new construction, issued by the relevant development authority (LDA, TMA, etc.)
- NOC from the building owner — if the applicant isn't the property owner
- 2 passport-size photographs
- Demand notice receipt — issued after application, paid at a designated bank
Application Process — Step by Step
- Visit LESCO subdivision office. Find your nearest LESCO office based on your property's location. Bring all documents listed above.
- Submit Form-A. This is the new connection application form. LESCO staff will help you fill it out. Specify your required load (in kW) — residential connections are typically 1-5 kW.
- Site inspection. LESCO sends an inspector to verify your property and assess the nearest transformer and pole connectivity. This happens within 5-10 days of application.
- Demand notice. After inspection approval, LESCO issues a demand notice specifying the connection fee. Pay this at the designated bank branch.
- Meter installation. After payment verification, LESCO schedules meter installation. A technician installs the meter, connects wiring to the nearest pole, and activates your supply.
- Connection live. Your meter starts recording units from the activation date. The first bill arrives in the next billing cycle.
Connection Fees and What Affects the Cost
LESCO connection fees depend on three factors: your sanctioned load (kW), the distance from the nearest transformer, and whether infrastructure extension is required.
- Residential 1 kW (single phase): approximately Rs. 3,500-5,000 (basic connection fee + security deposit)
- Residential 3 kW (single phase): approximately Rs. 6,000-8,000
- Residential 5 kW (three phase): approximately Rs. 10,000-15,000
- Commercial connections: significantly higher, based on load assessment
If the nearest transformer is full or too far from your property, LESCO may require you to contribute toward transformer installation or line extension costs. This can add Rs. 50,000-200,000+ to the total. Ask about this during the initial application — it's the single biggest cost surprise in the process.
Timeline reality check: LESCO officially states 15-30 days for new connections, but in practice it can take 45-90 days depending on transformer availability and workload. Apply well before you actually need the connection — don't wait until you're ready to move in.

Common New Connection Issues and Solutions
- Application rejected for missing documents. The most common rejection reason is incomplete property documentation. Get your fard or registry verified before applying.
- Inspector delays. If the site inspection doesn't happen within 10 days, follow up at the subdivision office. Persistent follow-up is unfortunately necessary in many LESCO offices.
- Transformer capacity full. In densely built areas, the nearest transformer may be at capacity. LESCO will ask you to fund a new transformer or wait for capacity expansion. This is negotiable — sometimes sharing the cost with neighboring applicants is possible.
- Unauthorized connections. Never get an illegal "kunda" connection while waiting. LESCO actively detects theft and the penalties are severe — fines, FIR, and connection blacklisting.
LESCO New Connection — Applicant Questions
Officially 15-30 days, but practically 45-90 days depending on transformer availability, document processing, and workload at your subdivision office. Apply early and follow up regularly.
A basic residential single-phase 1 kW connection costs approximately Rs. 3,500-5,000 including the security deposit. Costs increase with higher load requirements and if infrastructure extension is needed.
As of 2026, LESCO new connection applications still primarily require in-person visits to the subdivision office. Some initial inquiry can be done through LESCO's website, but document submission and payment happen at the office.
No, but you need the property owner's NOC (No Objection Certificate) and a copy of the lease agreement if you're a tenant. The connection is registered to the property address, not the applicant.
For a typical 5-10 marla house, 3 kW (single phase) is sufficient for basic appliances. If you plan to use an AC, water pump, or multiple heavy appliances simultaneously, apply for 5 kW (three phase). Under-requesting saves upfront cost but causes tripping; over-requesting costs more unnecessarily.
